This is an amazing quote from Paul Conti (author of Trauma, the Invisible Epidemic) on the Rich Roll podcast (starts at 1:31):
“We should have a bunch of really smart middle-schoolers look at our health care system, and ask: what would make this better?”
I feel like this could literally help a lot to look at our broken systems with fresh eyes.
I would love to just hear the questions kids ask their parents, or their teachers, or each other. Kids are asking from a sense of knowing. It’s just their knowing is not a statement, but is best expressed as a question.
So when we ask a kid a question, we’re literally speaking their language. I’m amazed at my son’s ability to roll with the questions I ask him in return. He just speaks from his sense of knowing, unconstrained by what is “known”.
